The ONE Thing (Focusing Question)

productivity · medium · 4 hours daily focused block, 5 minutes daily question

What is The ONE Thing (Focusing Question)?

Extreme prioritization framework built around one question: 'What's the ONE thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?' Creates a domino effect where completing the most critical task cascades into solving related problems.

How do you do The ONE Thing (Focusing Question)?

  1. 1.Ask the Focusing Question every morning for your most important life area: 'What's the ONE thing I can do today for [area] such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?'
  2. 2.Apply 'goal setting to the now': cascade from your someday goal → 5-year → 1-year → monthly → weekly → daily → right NOW to find today's lead domino
  3. 3.Time-block 4 hours of your morning for your ONE Thing before any other work — protect this block like a doctor's appointment with yourself
  4. 4.Say no to everything that isn't your ONE Thing or directly supporting it — the ability to say no determines your ability to say yes to what matters
  5. 5.Accept that extraordinary results are sequential, not simultaneous: success is built one domino at a time, and each domino can knock over something 50% larger than itself

How long does it take?

4 hours daily focused block, 5 minutes daily question.

Is it hard to start?

medium.
