Mewing (Tongue Posture Correction)
health · medium · Continuous daily habit (no extra time once learned)
What is Mewing (Tongue Posture Correction)?
Maintain proper tongue posture by pressing the entire tongue against the palate with lips sealed and teeth lightly touching, which enforces nasal breathing, may improve airway patency, and potentially influences facial development. Most effective in children under 10 but adults report breathing improvements.

How do you do Mewing (Tongue Posture Correction)?
- 1.Rest the ENTIRE tongue flat against the roof of the mouth — the back third is most important and most neglected
- 2.Keep lips gently sealed and teeth lightly touching or nearly touching at all times
- 3.Breathe exclusively through the nose — mouth breathing undermines the entire practice
- 4.Practice the 'mew push swallow': press tongue to palate, swallow while maintaining pressure, hold position
- 5.Set hourly reminders for the first 2 weeks until correct tongue posture becomes subconscious
How long does it take?
Continuous daily habit (no extra time once learned).
Is it hard to start?
medium.
