Time-Restricted Eating (16:8 IF)
nutrition · medium · No extra time — saves time actually (no breakfast prep)
What is Time-Restricted Eating (16:8 IF)?
Eat all your food within an 8-hour window, fast for 16 hours. The easiest fasting protocol: skip breakfast, eat from noon to 8 PM. Improves insulin sensitivity, promotes autophagy, reduces inflammation, and most people lose weight without counting calories.

How do you do Time-Restricted Eating (16:8 IF)?
- 1.Choose your eating window: most popular is 12 PM - 8 PM (skip breakfast). But any 8-hour window works — pick what fits your life
- 2.During fasting hours: water, black coffee, and plain tea are fine. No calories, no sweeteners (even artificial ones may trigger insulin)
- 3.During eating hours: eat normally. Don't try to diet AND fast simultaneously — that's unsustainable. Just eat real food in your window
- 4.Start with 12:12 (most people already do this naturally), then shift to 14:10, then 16:8 over 2 weeks. Your hunger hormones (ghrelin) adapt within 3-5 days
- 5.Track: energy levels, hunger patterns, weight, sleep quality. Most people report more energy and less brain fog after the adaptation period (days 3-7 are the hardest)
How long does it take?
No extra time — saves time actually (no breakfast prep).
Is it hard to start?
medium.
