How do you do Contrast Bathing for Recovery?

  1. 1.After a workout: immerse in warm water (100-104°F / 38-40°C) for 3-4 minutes. Bathtub, hot tub, or warm shower works
  2. 2.Switch to cold water (50-59°F / 10-15°C) for 1 minute. Cold shower, cold plunge, or even a bucket of ice water on your legs
  3. 3.Repeat the hot-cold cycle 3-4 times. Always END on cold for anti-inflammatory benefits, or warm for relaxation
  4. 4.The mechanism: warm water vasodilates (opens blood vessels), cold vasoconstricts (closes them). The pumping action flushes metabolic waste from muscles
  5. 5.If no cold plunge available: even contrast showers (hot → cold → hot → cold) provide 60-70% of the benefit of full immersion

How long does it take?

15-20 minutes post-workout.

Is it hard to start?

medium.
