Micro-Meditation (60-Second Reset)

mindfulness · easy · 60 seconds, 5-10 times per day

What is Micro-Meditation (60-Second Reset)?

You don't need 20 minutes to meditate. Take 60 seconds: close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths, scan your body for tension, set one intention. Do this 5-10 times throughout the day. Research shows frequency matters more than duration — ten 1-minute sessions beat one 10-minute session.

How do you do Micro-Meditation (60-Second Reset)?

  1. 1.Set 5 random alarms throughout your day. When one goes off: stop, close your eyes, take 3 slow breaths (4 count in, 6 count out)
  2. 2.Body scan in 20 seconds: notice jaw, shoulders, hands, stomach. Where's the tension? Consciously release it
  3. 3.Set one micro-intention: 'For the next hour, I will be present' or 'I will be patient in my next interaction' or 'I will focus on one task'
  4. 4.No special position, no special place needed. Do it at your desk, in your car (parked), on the toilet, in a queue, during a boring meeting (eyes slightly open)
  5. 5.The compound effect: 5 micro-meditations × 1 minute = 5 minutes of mindfulness scattered through your day. Over time, these moments create a baseline of awareness that persists between sessions

How long does it take?

60 seconds, 5-10 times per day.
