- 1.Start with Heart: Before the conversation, clarify what you really want for yourself, for them, and for the relationship
- 2.Learn to Look: Watch for signs of silence (withdrawing, avoiding, masking) or violence (controlling, labeling, attacking) in yourself and others
- 3.Make It Safe: When safety breaks down, step out of the content and restore safety with contrasting: 'I don't want X, I do want Y'
- 4.STATE your path: Share facts first, Tell your story, Ask for their path, Talk tentatively, Encourage testing
- 5.Move to Action: End every crucial conversation with clear who-does-what-by-when commitments
