How do you do Breathwork (Structured Practice)?

  1. 1.Start with box breathing for daily regulation: inhale 4 counts, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4; practice for 5 minutes morning and evening; this is used by Navy SEALs for stress management
  2. 2.Learn 4-7-8 breathing for sleep: inhale through nose for 4 counts, hold for 7, exhale through mouth for 8; do 4 cycles before bed; this activates the parasympathetic system for sleep onset
  3. 3.Practice cyclic hyperventilation (Wim Hof style) for energy and resilience: 30 deep rapid breaths, then exhale and hold as long as comfortable, then deep inhale and hold 15 seconds; repeat 3 rounds; do on empty stomach in a safe seated position
  4. 4.Use Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) for balance: close right nostril, inhale left; close left, exhale right; inhale right, close right, exhale left; continue for 5 minutes for nervous system balance
  5. 5.Match technique to need: energizing (Wim Hof, Kapalabhati), calming (4-7-8, extended exhale, coherence breathing at 5.5 breaths/minute), balancing (alternate nostril, box breathing)

How long does it take?

10-20 min/day.

Is it hard to start?

easy.
