Default Diary (Ideal Week Template)

structure · easy · 2 hours initial design, 15 minutes weekly adjustment

What is Default Diary (Ideal Week Template)?

Pre-scheduling your ideal week as a template that repeats by default — every time block has a designated purpose before the week begins. Creates structure that you deviate from intentionally rather than drifting through days reactively.

How do you do Default Diary (Ideal Week Template)?

  1. 1.Map your energy patterns: when are you most focused, creative, social, and low-energy? Plot these on a weekly grid — your ideal week should align activities with energy, not fight against it
  2. 2.Block non-negotiables first: sleep, exercise, meals, family time, and your ONE Thing deep work block. These form the skeleton that everything else works around.
  3. 3.Assign remaining blocks to recurring activities: meetings on specific days, admin on specific afternoons, learning in specific slots, social time on specific evenings
  4. 4.Leave 20-30% of your week unscheduled as buffer — the ideal week is a template, not a prison. Real life needs flex space for emergencies, spontaneity, and rest.
  5. 5.Compare your actual week to your default diary every Sunday: where did you deviate? Was it intentional or reactive? Adjust the template quarterly as your priorities evolve.

How long does it take?

2 hours initial design, 15 minutes weekly adjustment.

Is it hard to start?

easy.
