Two-List Strategy (Warren Buffett 5/25 Rule)
productivity · medium · 1 hour for initial list creation, 5 minutes daily for priority check
What is Two-List Strategy (Warren Buffett 5/25 Rule)?
Write down your top 25 goals, circle the 5 most important, and treat the remaining 20 as your 'Avoid At All Costs' list — not a 'get to later' list but active distractions that will prevent you from achieving what matters most.

How do you do Two-List Strategy (Warren Buffett 5/25 Rule)?
- 1.Write down 25 goals, dreams, or projects that are important to you — career, personal, health, relationships, creative, financial — everything you genuinely want to accomplish
- 2.Review the full list and circle exactly 5 — the ones that, if you could only accomplish these and nothing else, would make you feel your life was well-spent
- 3.List items 6-25 become your 'Avoid At All Costs' list. These are dangerous precisely because they're genuinely appealing — they will steal focus from your top 5 if you let them
- 4.For the next 90 days, devote all discretionary time and energy exclusively to your top 5. When tempted by items 6-25, remind yourself: 'This is an attractive distraction, not a priority'
- 5.Revisit and rebuild both lists quarterly — your top 5 may shift as some goals are completed and new ones emerge, but never have more than 5 active priorities
How long does it take?
1 hour for initial list creation, 5 minutes daily for priority check.
