How do you do Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades Qi Gong)?
- 1.Learn the eight movements in sequence: start with 'Two Hands Hold Up the Heavens' (stretching the triple burner) — raise interlocked hands overhead while inhaling, lower while exhaling
- 2.Practice 'Drawing the Bow to Shoot the Eagle' — step into horse stance, extend one arm while pulling the other back like drawing a bow, alternating sides
- 3.Move through all eight forms slowly, synchronizing each movement with deep diaphragmatic breathing, spending 1-2 minutes per movement
- 4.Practice daily for 15-20 minutes, ideally in the morning outdoors; seated versions are available for those with mobility limitations
- 5.Focus on smooth, continuous movement rather than perfection — the practice is accessible regardless of age, fitness level, or physical condition
