How do you do Paradoxical Intention for Sleep?
- 1.When you get into bed, keep your eyes open in the darkened room and gently tell yourself: 'I'll just stay awake a little longer'
- 2.Don't try to fall asleep — instead, passively resist sleep. Let your eyes stay open naturally without straining
- 3.If anxious thoughts about sleep arise, acknowledge them and return to the simple intention: 'I'm just going to stay awake'
- 4.Don't engage in stimulating activities — just lie still, eyes open, with the gentle intention of remaining awake
- 5.Practice for at least 2 weeks consistently to allow the technique to take full effect as performance anxiety diminishes
