How do you do Micro-Acts of Kindness Protocol?

  1. 1.Commit to performing 3 deliberate acts of kindness per day for 1 week — these can be small (holding a door, sending an encouraging text, buying someone coffee, leaving a generous tip)
  2. 2.Vary the acts: Research shows variety prevents hedonic adaptation. Mix spontaneous kindness (helping a stranger) with planned kindness (writing a thank-you note) and both strangers and close others
  3. 3.Notice the 'helper's high': After each act, pause for 30 seconds to notice how you feel. This mindful attention amplifies the wellbeing benefit
  4. 4.Try 'invisible kindness' — acts where the recipient doesn't know who did it. This trains intrinsic motivation rather than social reward seeking
  5. 5.Weekly reflection: Which acts of kindness gave you the strongest sense of competence, meaning, and connection? Double down on those categories

How long does it take?

5-15 minutes daily (spread across natural interactions).

Is it hard to start?

easy.
