What is Wim Hof Breathing Method?
A controlled hyperventilation and breath retention protocol developed by Wim 'The Iceman' Hof. Involves 30 deep breaths followed by a breath hold on the exhale, then a recovery breath held for 15 seconds, repeated for 3 rounds. Temporarily shifts blood pH (respiratory alkalosis), produces tingling and lightheadedness, and trains the autonomic nervous system. Research shows it can voluntarily influence the immune response and reduce inflammation markers.

How do you do Wim Hof Breathing Method?
- 1.Sit or lie down in a comfortable position with loose clothing — never practice in water, while driving, or standing; ensure belly can expand freely
- 2.Round 1: Take 30 deep breaths — inhale fully through nose or mouth (pushing belly out), then let the breath go through the mouth without force, one right after another in a steady rhythm
- 3.After the 30th breath, exhale to about 90% and hold your breath with lungs mostly empty; relax and hold until you feel the urge to breathe (beginners: 30-90 seconds; experienced: 2-3+ minutes)
- 4.When you must breathe, take one full inhale and hold it for 15 seconds with lungs full (recovery breath), then release; this completes one round
- 5.Repeat for 3 total rounds; the breath hold typically gets longer each round as CO2 tolerance increases; expect tingling in fingers and feet, light-headedness — these are normal and harmless
How long does it take?
15-20 minutes, daily.
