Morning Energizer Protocol (Bellows + Retention Stack)

breathwork · medium · 6-7 minutes, once daily upon waking

What is Morning Energizer Protocol (Bellows + Retention Stack)?

A structured wake-up breathwork stack combining Kapalabhati (energizing rapid exhales), breath retention (CO2 tolerance and alertness), and power breathing to replace caffeine as a morning alertness tool. Designed to raise cortisol at the natural cortisol awakening response window (first 30-60 minutes after waking), increase core body temperature, and flood the system with adrenaline and norepinephrine. Based on protocols from Andrew Huberman and Wim Hof, adapted for a practical 7-minute morning routine.

How do you do Morning Energizer Protocol (Bellows + Retention Stack)?

  1. 1.Within 30 minutes of waking (before coffee or food), sit upright on the edge of your bed or on the floor. Take 3 deep breaths through the nose to oxygenate. Keep eyes open — visual input helps trigger the cortisol awakening response
  2. 2.Round 1 — Kapalabhati blast: 30 sharp nasal exhale pumps at 2 per second (15 seconds), then inhale fully and hold for 30 seconds with gentle Mula Bandha (pelvic floor engagement). Exhale through the mouth. Rest for 15 seconds
  3. 3.Round 2 — Power breathing: 20 full deep breaths (inhale deeply through nose 2 seconds, forceful exhale through mouth 1 second — like a controlled hyperventilation). After the 20th exhale, hold with lungs empty for as long as comfortable (target 45-90 seconds). Take a recovery breath, hold 15 seconds
  4. 4.Round 3 — Cold finish: 30 sharp Kapalabhati pumps, then inhale and hold for 45 seconds while doing an isometric squeeze (tense every muscle in your body for the last 15 seconds of the hold). Exhale with force. Optionally follow immediately with a cold shower (30-90 seconds)
  5. 5.The total sequence takes 6-7 minutes. Your hands may tingle, your body will feel warm, and you should feel alert and energized. Do NOT check your phone during this routine — treat it as your first act of the day. If you feel lightheaded, reduce the number of breaths or hold durations. This replaces caffeine for many practitioners when done consistently for 2+ weeks.

How long does it take?

6-7 minutes, once daily upon waking.
