What is ADHD Body Doubling?

Work alongside another person (in-person or virtual) to create external accountability. The mere presence of another person activates your prefrontal cortex and makes it dramatically easier to start and sustain focus — no interaction needed.

How do you do ADHD Body Doubling?

  1. 1.Find a body doubling partner: friend, coworker, or use platforms like Flow Club, Focusmate, or FLOWN
  2. 2.Set a specific task before starting — write it down so you have a clear target
  3. 3.Work in parallel for 25-50 minutes, cameras on if virtual (no chatting, just co-presence)
  4. 4.Take a 5-10 minute break together, then start another round
  5. 5.Track what you accomplish with body doubling vs. alone — the difference is usually dramatic
