What is Expressive Dance/Movement Practice?
Move your body freely to music with no choreography, no rules, no audience. This isn't exercise — it's emotional processing through the body. Releases stored tension, completes stress cycles, and reconnects you with your physical self.

How do you do Expressive Dance/Movement Practice?
- 1.Put on music that moves you. Close the door. Move however your body wants to move — no rules, no choreography
- 2.Start slow: sway, rock, shift weight. Let the music guide you. If you feel silly, that's your ego — keep going
- 3.Pay attention to parts of your body that want to move (or resist moving). Shake your hands, stomp your feet, roll your neck. Follow the impulses
- 4.If emotion comes up (tears, laughter, anger), let it move through you. This is the point — you're completing a stress cycle that got stuck
- 5.Do this for 1-2 songs (5-8 minutes) as needed, or dedicate 20-30 minutes for a full session. Ecstatic Dance classes offer community versions
How long does it take?
5-30 minutes as needed.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
