Polyphasic Sleep Experiment
biohacking · medium · 6 hours night + 20 min nap
What is Polyphasic Sleep Experiment?
Instead of one 8-hour sleep block, use multiple shorter sleep periods: the most practical version is biphasic sleep (6 hours at night + 20 min afternoon nap). Some cultures have practiced this for centuries. Not for everyone, but worth testing.

How do you do Polyphasic Sleep Experiment?
- 1.Start with biphasic: 6-6.5 hours of core sleep at night + one 20-minute nap between 1-3 PM
- 2.The nap must be 20 minutes or less — set an alarm. Going longer drops you into deep sleep and you'll wake groggy
- 3.Adaptation takes 1-2 weeks. The first few days you'll feel tired. By week 2, the nap becomes a superpower — you get a second morning
- 4.Track: energy levels, mood, cognitive performance, and nighttime sleep quality. If your night sleep suffers after 2 weeks, this isn't for you
- 5.Important: this only works if your 6-hour core sleep is CONSISTENT (same time every night) and HIGH QUALITY (dark room, cool, no alcohol). Fragmented bad sleep + naps ≠ polyphasic sleep
How long does it take?
6 hours night + 20 min nap.
Is it hard to start?
medium.
