Active Recovery Day Protocol

What is Active Recovery Day Protocol?
Rest days don't mean couch days. Active recovery — light movement at 30-50% intensity — speeds recovery faster than total rest by increasing blood flow to damaged muscles without adding stress. Walk, swim, yoga, easy bike.

How do you do Active Recovery Day Protocol?
- 1.On rest days: do 20-40 minutes of light movement at conversational pace. Heart rate should stay below 120 BPM for most people
- 2.Best options: walking (especially in nature), easy swimming, gentle yoga, foam rolling + stretching, easy cycling, casual sports
- 3.Avoid: anything competitive, anything heavy, anything that makes you breathe hard. If it feels like a workout, it's too much
- 4.Add foam rolling: spend 10 minutes rolling quads, hamstrings, glutes, upper back, and calves. Hold tender spots for 30 seconds
- 5.Schedule 2-3 active recovery days per week between hard training days. Your muscles grow during recovery, not during training
How long does it take?
20-40 minutes of light movement.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
