What is Digital Sabbath (Weekly Tech-Free Day)?
One day per week (Saturday or Sunday), go completely screen-free. No phone, no laptop, no TV, no tablet. Inspired by the ancient Sabbath practice but secularized for modern wellness. The most radical digital wellness intervention — and the most transformative.

How do you do Digital Sabbath (Weekly Tech-Free Day)?
- 1.Pick your day. Saturday or Sunday works best. Put all devices in a drawer or box at sundown the night before (following the traditional Sabbath timing)
- 2.Prepare: tell people you'll be unreachable (they'll survive), print any recipes or directions you need, set up analog entertainment (board games, art supplies, instrument, books)
- 3.Fill the day with embodied activities: cook a long meal from scratch, walk without a destination, garden, play sports, have long conversations, nap, make art, do puzzles, play music
- 4.Notice what happens by hour 3-4: a deep calm, a slowing of internal tempo, spontaneous ideas, genuine boredom (which becomes creative fuel), presence in conversations
- 5.After doing this for 4 consecutive weeks, most people rearrange their entire week around protecting their digital sabbath. It becomes the day they look forward to most
How long does it take?
One full day per week.
Is it hard to start?
hard.
