What is 24-Hour Phone Fast?

Once per month, turn off your phone for a full 24 hours. Not airplane mode — OFF. The first 2 hours feel like withdrawal. By hour 6, you feel eerily peaceful. By hour 12, you remember what life felt like before constant connectivity.

Is there evidence for it?

How do you do 24-Hour Phone Fast?

  1. 1.Pick a day (weekend works best). Tell close contacts you'll be unreachable. Set an out-of-office if needed. Then power OFF your phone
  2. 2.Have analog backup ready: a watch (for time), a printed map (if going somewhere), a physical book, a notebook and pen, cash (no Apple Pay)
  3. 3.The first 2-3 hours: you'll reach for your phone 50+ times. Each phantom reach is a reminder of how addicted you've become. Notice it without judgment
  4. 4.By afternoon: you'll feel lighter, more present, more creative. Conversations are deeper. Meals taste better. Time slows down. This is your natural state
  5. 5.At the 24-hour mark: power back on. Notice the flood of notifications. Ask: 'Did any of this actually matter? What did I miss that was truly important?' Usually: nothing

How long does it take?

24 hours, once per month.

Is it hard to start?

hard.
