Rucking Protocol (GORUCK Method)

What is Rucking Protocol (GORUCK Method)?
A military-derived fitness method that involves walking with a weighted backpack (rucksack). Rucking burns 2-3x more calories than regular walking with far less impact stress than running, builds functional full-body strength, and improves cardiovascular fitness and posture simultaneously. The protocol starts light and progressively increases weight and distance, following the military principle of gradual load adaptation. It requires no gym, no skill, and can be done anywhere.

How do you do Rucking Protocol (GORUCK Method)?
- 1.Start with a sturdy backpack loaded with 10% of your bodyweight (a weight plate or wrapped bricks work) — never use sand as it shifts
- 2.Walk 2-3 miles at a brisk pace (15-minute mile) for your first session, focusing on upright posture with shoulders back
- 3.Ruck 2-3 times per week, adding 5 lbs of weight every 1-2 weeks until you reach 25-30% of your bodyweight or 50 lbs max
- 4.Gradually increase distance: work up to 4-6 mile rucks over the first 2 months
- 5.Limit rucking to 2-3x/week maximum to avoid overuse injuries — supplement with mobility work and foot care
