How do you do Attachment Theory Healing Work?

  1. 1.Take a validated attachment style assessment (e.g., ECR-R questionnaire) to identify your primary attachment pattern
  2. 2.For anxious attachment: practice self-soothing when triggered (box breathing, journaling) instead of seeking reassurance; use statements like 'I feel insecure right now' instead of testing your partner's love
  3. 3.For avoidant attachment: practice staying present during emotional conversations for 2 extra minutes before withdrawing; share one vulnerable feeling per week with your partner or a trusted person
  4. 4.Keep an 'attachment trigger journal': log moments when you feel activated, identify the underlying need (safety, closeness, autonomy), and note your response pattern
  5. 5.Work with a therapist trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or read 'Attached' by Amir Levine for deeper understanding of your cycle

How long does it take?

15-30 min/day for journaling and practice.

Is it hard to start?
