What is Values-Based Action Planning?
An ACT-based process for identifying core personal values across life domains and translating them into concrete, observable daily actions, using values as a compass for behavior rather than goals as destinations.

How do you do Values-Based Action Planning?
- 1.Complete the Valued Living Questionnaire (VLQ): Rate 10 life domains (family, relationships, work, health, leisure, spirituality, community, education, self-care, creativity) for importance (1-10) and consistency of action (1-10)
- 2.Identify the 3 domains with the largest gap between importance and consistency — these are your 'values gaps'
- 3.For each gap domain, write a specific 'values statement' (e.g., 'Being a present and engaged parent' rather than 'spending time with kids')
- 4.Create 3 'values-aligned micro-actions' for each priority domain — small, concrete behaviors you can do today (e.g., put phone away during dinner, ask one curious question, offer one genuine compliment)
- 5.Weekly values review: Rate each domain again on consistency. Celebrate progress, identify patterns of avoidance, and adjust micro-actions for the coming week
How long does it take?
