What is Music as Medicine Protocol?
Curate specific playlists for emotional regulation: an energizing playlist, a calming playlist, a processing/cathartic playlist, and a focus playlist. Music directly modulates dopamine, cortisol, and heart rate — it's pharmacology without pills.

How do you do Music as Medicine Protocol?
- 1.Create 4 playlists: ENERGY (upbeat, 120-140 BPM, your personal pump-up songs), CALM (60-80 BPM, ambient, acoustic, classical), PROCESS (emotional songs that make you feel — use for intentional crying/release), FOCUS (instrumental, lo-fi, binaural beats, no lyrics)
- 2.Match playlist to your current need, not your current mood. Feeling lethargic? Don't play sad music — play your ENERGY list to shift state
- 3.For anxiety: start with music matching your current arousal, then gradually shift to calmer tracks over 15 minutes (iso-principle)
- 4.For grief/emotional processing: dedicate 15-20 minutes to your PROCESS playlist in a private space. Let yourself feel fully, then switch to CALM to come back down
- 5.Listen with headphones when possible — the immersive experience is 2-3x more effective than speakers for emotional regulation
How long does it take?
1 hour to create playlists, then used as needed.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
