What is Neurofeedback-Informed Meditation?
This protocol combines traditional meditation with the insights from neurofeedback research to target specific brainwave states deliberately. Traditional meditation produces measurable changes: increased alpha (8-12 Hz, calm alertness) and theta (4-8 Hz, deep meditation/creativity), decreased high beta (anxious rumination). Lazar et al. How do you do Neurofeedback-Informed Meditation?
- 1.FOR FOCUS/CONCENTRATION (target: sustained alpha-theta border, ~8-10 Hz): Practice focused attention meditation. Sit upright, eyes closed or softly focused on a single point. Direct all attention to the sensation of breathing at the nostrils — the specific physical sensation, not the concept of breathing.
