HRV Biofeedback Training

biohacking · medium · 10-20 minutes daily biofeedback + passive overnight tracking

What is HRV Biofeedback Training?

Use heart rate variability data from wearables (Oura, Whoop) to objectively guide training intensity, recovery, and stress management. Breathe at your personal resonance frequency (typically 4.5-6.5 breaths/min) to amplify HRV by stimulating the baroreflex.

Is there evidence for it?

How do you do HRV Biofeedback Training?

  1. 1.Measure baseline HRV for 2 weeks using a wearable (Oura ring or Whoop strap) upon waking
  2. 2.When HRV is above your baseline, train hard; when below, focus on recovery or light movement
  3. 3.Practice resonance frequency breathing (5-6 breaths/min) for 10-20 minutes daily using an app like Elite HRV or HRV4Training
  4. 4.Track the correlation between sleep quality, alcohol, stress, and your HRV trends
  5. 5.Aim to raise 7-day rolling HRV average through consistent aerobic training and sleep optimization over 8-12 weeks

How long does it take?

10-20 minutes daily biofeedback + passive overnight tracking.

Is it hard to start?

medium.
