What is Weekly Relationship Check-In?
A 15-minute weekly conversation with your partner (or close friend/family member) using a simple structure: appreciation, challenge, request. Prevents resentment buildup, maintains connection, and catches small issues before they become big ones.

How do you do Weekly Relationship Check-In?
- 1.Schedule a fixed time weekly (Sunday evening, Saturday morning — whatever works). Put it in both calendars. Non-negotiable as a meeting
- 2.Each person takes turns sharing 3 things: 1) An appreciation ('I really valued when you...'), 2) A challenge ('Something I've been struggling with is...'), 3) A request ('Would you be willing to...')
- 3.Rules: no interrupting during someone's turn. No defensiveness. Validate before responding ('I hear you saying...'). The goal is understanding, not winning
- 4.Keep it to 15-20 minutes. This isn't therapy — it's maintenance. Like an oil change for your relationship
- 5.Track patterns: if the same challenge keeps coming up, it's a systemic issue that needs a deeper conversation or outside help
How long does it take?
15-20 minutes per week.
Is it hard to start?
medium.
