What is Boredom as Creative Fuel?
Schedule deliberate boredom: 20 minutes with no phone, no book, no music, no TV — just you and your thoughts. In a world of infinite stimulation, boredom is the new meditation. Your best ideas will come when you stop consuming and start thinking.

How do you do Boredom as Creative Fuel?
- 1.Schedule 20 minutes of 'nothing time' into your day. Sit, walk, or lie down — but NO stimulation. No phone, no music, no book, no conversation
- 2.Your brain will resist violently for the first 5-7 minutes. Itchy, restless, uncomfortable. This is the withdrawal from constant stimulation. Push through it
- 3.Around minute 8-12, your default mode network activates: the part of your brain responsible for creativity, problem-solving, self-reflection, and future planning
- 4.Don't force thinking. Let your mind wander. The goal isn't to be productive — it's to let your subconscious process without interruption. The insight will come later, sometimes hours later
- 5.Do this 3-5x per week. Best times: waiting in line (without phone), on a walk (without podcast), in the shower (already doing this), during a commute (without music)
How long does it take?
20 minutes per session.
Is it hard to start?
medium.
