What is Stream of Consciousness Drawing?

Put pen to paper and draw continuously for 10 minutes without lifting the pen. No plan, no erasing, no judgment. Like morning pages but visual. Bypasses your analytical brain and accesses intuitive/emotional processing.

How do you do Stream of Consciousness Drawing?

  1. 1.Get a blank page and a single pen or marker. Set a timer for 10 minutes
  2. 2.Start drawing and DON'T LIFT YOUR PEN from the paper. Let it wander: curves, lines, shapes, spirals, whatever emerges
  3. 3.Don't try to draw anything recognizable. If something starts to look like something, let it — but don't force it
  4. 4.When the timer goes off, look at what you made. Notice what you see in it (like reading clouds). What emotions does it evoke?
  5. 5.Do this when you're stuck, stressed, or creatively blocked. It's like defragmenting your brain through your hand

How long does it take?

10 minutes per session.

Is it hard to start?

easy.
