How do you do Focused Attention Meditation?
- 1.Sit comfortably with eyes closed or softly focused; set a timer for 10 minutes (beginners)
- 2.Direct attention to the physical sensation of breathing at the nostrils or abdomen
- 3.When you notice the mind has wandered (it will), gently and non-judgmentally return focus to the breath
- 4.The moment of noticing distraction IS the practice — it's a mental rep, not a failure
- 5.Gradually extend duration: 10 min for 2 weeks, then 15, then 20 min; aim for daily practice
How long does it take?
10-20 min/day.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
