The Two-Day Rule

What is The Two-Day Rule?
You can skip a habit once, but NEVER twice in a row. Missing Monday is fine — missing Monday AND Tuesday means you're building a NEW habit (of not doing the thing). This single rule prevents the downward spiral that kills most habit attempts.

How do you do The Two-Day Rule?
- 1.Pick any habit you're trying to build: exercise, meditation, journaling, healthy eating, etc.
- 2.The only rule: never skip two days in a row. You can skip Monday. But if you skipped Monday, Tuesday is NON-NEGOTIABLE, even if it's just the tiniest version
- 3.On 'skip recovery' days: do the minimum viable version. Skipped gym yesterday? Today do 5 push-ups at home. Skipped meditation? Today do 1 minute of breathing. The bar is on the floor — just step over it
- 4.Track it visually: put a red X on calendar days you miss. If you see two red X's threatening to line up, that's your alarm. Drop everything and do the tiny version
- 5.Why it works: one miss is a bad day. Two misses is a pattern. Three misses is your new identity. The two-day rule catches the slide before it becomes a collapse
How long does it take?
Whatever the habit takes (even 1-minute version counts).
