Wim Hof Method
biohacking · hard · 2-3 hours/week
What is Wim Hof Method?
Combination of specific breathing exercises (30-40 deep breaths + breath holds), cold exposure, and meditation/commitment to build stress resilience. Popularized widely, but systematic reviews note very low quality of evidence and safety concerns.
Is there evidence for it?

How do you do Wim Hof Method?
- 1.Breathing: take 30-40 deep, rapid breaths (in through nose, out through mouth), then exhale and hold as long as comfortable
- 2.After breath hold, inhale deeply and hold for 15 seconds. Repeat for 3-4 rounds
- 3.Cold exposure: start with 30-second cold showers, gradually build to 2-3 minutes, then cold immersion
- 4.NEVER practice breathing exercises in or near water, while driving, or standing (risk of fainting)
- 5.Practice 3-5 times per week; the breathing takes 15-20 minutes, cold exposure is additional
How long does it take?
2-3 hours/week.
Is it hard to start?
