What is Personal Kanban?

How do you do Personal Kanban?
- 1.Set up a board (physical or digital) with three columns: Ready, Doing, and Done — then dump every task, project, and commitment onto sticky notes in the Ready column
- 2.Set a WIP (work-in-progress) limit of 3-5 items max in the Doing column — this is the constraint that creates focus and prevents overwhelm
- 3.Pull tasks from Ready to Doing only when you have capacity; never push — this creates a natural flow state and prevents overcommitment
- 4.Review the board daily for 5 minutes and do a weekly retrospective: what flowed? what got stuck? why?
- 5.Add swim lanes for life areas (work, health, relationships, personal) to visualize balance and spot neglected areas
How long does it take?
10 minutes daily, 30 minutes weekly review.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
