What is Primal Movement Training (MovNat / Ido Portal Method)?

Natural movement training that restores ancestral movement patterns humans evolved to perform: crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, throwing, jumping, and swimming. Builds adaptive, real-world physical competence rather than isolated gym-based fitness.

How do you do Primal Movement Training (MovNat / Ido Portal Method)?

  1. 1.Start with ground movement: practice crawling patterns (bear crawl, lizard crawl, crab walk) for 5-10 minutes. Focus on smooth, controlled movement rather than speed.
  2. 2.Add balance work: walk along curbs, low walls, or balance beams for 5-10 minutes. Progress from wide surfaces to narrow ones, eyes open to eyes closed.
  3. 3.Incorporate natural lifting: practice deadlifting and carrying odd objects (sandbags, logs, stones). Use farmer carries, overhead carries, and ground-to-shoulder lifts.
  4. 4.Practice climbing and hanging: dead hangs (30-60 sec), traverse bars, climb trees or playground structures. Build grip strength and upper body pulling capacity.
  5. 5.Train outdoors whenever possible. Combine movements into flow sequences: crawl to balance beam, jump off, carry a stone, hang from a branch. Practice 2-4 sessions per week, 30-45 minutes each.

How long does it take?

30-45 minutes, 2-4x/week.

Is it hard to start?

medium.
