What is Barre Workout?
A ballet-inspired exercise form combining classical dance positions with elements from yoga and Pilates, created by ballerina Lotte Berk in 1959 after a back injury. Focuses on small, pulsing isometric movements with high repetitions and low range of motion. Targets lower body and core with emphasis on form, alignment, and muscle endurance. Uses a ballet barre for balance support, sometimes adding light weights (1-1.5kg), resistance bands, or exercise balls.

How do you do Barre Workout?
- 1.Warm up with plie squats in first and second position at the barre (5 minutes): parallel and turned-out positions, small pulses at bottom range, 16-32 reps per variation
- 2.Thigh work at the barre: hold a narrow squat position and pulse 1-2 inches up and down for 30-60 seconds; add heel raises, single-leg variations, and isometric holds; repeat 2-3 sets
- 3.Seat (glute) work: face the barre, extend one leg behind you in attitude position, lift and pulse for 30-60 seconds; add small circles, bent-knee lifts, and pretzel position on the floor; repeat each side
- 4.Core section: plank variations on the floor, c-curve crunches, oblique twists, and leg lifts — all with small, controlled movements and long isometric holds; 10-15 minutes
- 5.Stretching and cool-down: use the barre for standing splits, hamstring stretches, hip openers, and back stretches; total class is 45-60 minutes
