What is Songwriting for Emotional Processing?
You don't need to be a musician. Writing a simple song (even just lyrics over a hummed melody) about what you're going through is one of the most powerful forms of emotional processing available. Combines narrative therapy with emotional expression.

How do you do Songwriting for Emotional Processing?
- 1.Start with lyrics: write 4-8 lines about what you're feeling RIGHT NOW. Don't aim for 'good' — aim for honest
- 2.Hum a melody that fits the mood. Repeat it until it feels natural. Record it on your phone so you don't forget
- 3.If you play an instrument, find 2-3 chords that feel right and loop them under your lyrics
- 4.If you don't play anything, speak-sing the lyrics over a simple beat (tap your desk, clap, use a metronome app)
- 5.The song is for YOU. Never share it, never polish it, never judge it. The act of creating it IS the therapy
How long does it take?
