What is Playful Parenting?

Use play, humor, and silliness to connect with your child and address behavioral issues. When a child refuses to put on shoes, instead of demanding, turn it into a game. Play is the language children speak — meet them there.

How do you do Playful Parenting?

  1. 1.When facing resistance, try play first: 'I bet you can't put your shoes on before I count to 10!' or 'Oh no, the shoe monster is coming!'
  2. 2.Dedicate 10-15 minutes of daily 'special time': child-led play where YOU follow THEIR rules. No phone, no teaching, no correcting — just play
  3. 3.Use role reversal: let the child be the parent/teacher/boss. This gives them a sense of power and often reveals what's really bothering them
  4. 4.For aggression: pillow fights, wrestling, roughhousing (with clear safety rules). Physical play releases aggression safely and builds connection
  5. 5.After conflict: reconnect through laughter. Tickle, chase, make silly faces. Laughter releases the same tension that crying does
