What is Energy Management Over Time Management?
Stop managing your time and start managing your energy. Tony Schwartz's research at The Energy Project shows that high performers don't work more hours — they work in alignment with their energy cycles and recover strategically.

How do you do Energy Management Over Time Management?
- 1.Map your energy rhythm: track your alertness, focus, and mood every 2 hours for 3 days. Find your peak (most people: 9-11 AM) and trough (most people: 1-3 PM)
- 2.Schedule your most important, cognitively demanding work during your peak energy. Guard this time ruthlessly — no meetings, no email, no admin
- 3.During your trough: do low-energy tasks (email, admin, routine tasks, simple meetings). Fighting your energy cycle is like swimming upstream
- 4.Build in recovery sprints: work intensely for 60-90 minutes, then take a genuine 10-20 minute break (walk, stretch, breathe — not social media). Your productivity per hour increases when you pulse between focus and recovery
- 5.Manage the 4 energy dimensions: physical (sleep, exercise, nutrition), emotional (positive relationships, self-compassion), mental (focus, creative challenge), spiritual (purpose, alignment with values)
How long does it take?
Restructures existing time, no additional time.
