How do you do Date Night Rituals?
- 1.Block a non-negotiable weekly time slot (same day/time) for your date night and treat it like any other important appointment
- 2.Alternate who plans the date each week, with a rule that it must include at least one novel element (new restaurant, activity, or conversation topic) to trigger dopamine
- 3.Apply the Gottman 6-hour formula: include daily stress-reducing conversation (20 min), daily expressions of admiration, daily affection, a weekly date, and a weekly state-of-the-union meeting
- 4.During your date, practice the phone stack: all phones face-down in a stack; first person to check pays for the next date
- 5.End each date with a 'what I appreciate about us' share where each person names one thing they value about the relationship right now
How long does it take?
2-3 hours/week.
Is it hard to start?
easy.
