What is Mandala Drawing for Stress Relief?

Draw or color circular mandala patterns for 20 minutes. Research shows mandala creation reduces anxiety more than free-form drawing or coloring other shapes. The circular structure provides containment for chaotic emotions.

How do you do Mandala Drawing for Stress Relief?

  1. 1.Get plain paper and colored pencils/markers (or print mandala templates)
  2. 2.Draw a circle (trace a plate) and begin filling it with repetitive patterns: circles, petals, lines, dots, waves
  3. 3.Work from the center outward or from the edge inward — both work. Choose colors intuitively, not logically
  4. 4.Focus on the process, not the result. If your mind wanders to worries, gently redirect to the next line or color
  5. 5.Do this for 20 minutes. Notice your anxiety before and after — most people drop 2-3 points on a 10-point scale

How long does it take?

20 minutes per session.

Is it hard to start?

easy.
